Map Tools: Fake GPS & Tracker Setup Guide

Map tools and walk recording only need the location permission. Mock location (Fake GPS) needs two more steps in Android's developer settings. These steps turn on Android's official Mock Location feature; no root is needed, nothing in the system is modified, and you can undo them any time.

1. Turn on Developer Options
Open your phone's Settings → "About phone" (on some devices "Software information"). Tap "Build number" 7 times in a row. When you see "You are now a developer!", Developer Options are on.
• Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO: Settings → About phone → tap "MIUI/HyperOS version" 7 times.
• Samsung: Settings → About phone → Software information → Build number.

2. Select the app as the mock location app
Go to Settings → System → Developer Options. In the "Location" section tap "Select mock location app" and choose "Map Tools: Fake GPS & Tracker".

3. Grant permissions
On first launch the app asks for location. Notifications show the state of the simulation and the recording. Features such as the floating widget, Smart Shield or step counting ask for their own permissions only when you turn them on.

Turning mock location off and getting your real location back
Stop the simulation in the app. If an app keeps showing the old location, follow Settings → Simulation → "Restore My Location": the mock provider is released and the screen shows when a real GPS reading arrives. To remove it completely, set the mock location app to "None" in Developer Options.

Common problems
• Other apps don't see the mock location: check that this app is selected in step 2 and that device location is on.
• Walk recording stops when the screen turns off: Settings → Apps → Map Tools → Battery → choose "Unrestricted".
• Some apps detect the mock location: Android marks simulated locations and apps can see this. Map Tools does not hide this flag; this is expected.

Responsible use
The app is for software testing, development, privacy and learning. It must not be used for fraud, cheating in games, fooling attendance or delivery systems, creating fake evidence or misleading others. Details: Acceptable Use Policy.
